Hunting Permits, Firearms & Regulations in Mauritius

STEP 01

Hunting Permits and Required Documents

Mauritius offers a unique opportunity to hunt Rusa deer in a beautiful island setting. To prepare your hunting trip, certain administrative formalities must be completed in advance.

All international clients are required to provide the documents necessary for the preparation of their local hunting permits.

Mandatory 2-Month Advance Notice

All required documents must be received at least two months before your planned arrival in Mauritius. This advance notice is essential to allow sufficient time to process the necessary formalities.

Please contact Lionel Passion Guide well in advance to obtain the list of required documents and instructions for submission. Late submission may jeopardise your hunting arrangements.

STEP 02

Firearms and Ammunition Regulations

STRICT REGULATORY RESTRICTION

IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO BRING YOUR OWN FIREARM OR AMMUNITION TO MAURITIUS FOR YOUR HUNTING TRIP.

All clients must comply with this requirement. Personal hunting firearms and ammunition must not be brought for the hunt.

Firearms and ammunition are provided directly by the hunting zone for an additional fee, subject to availability and applicable regulations. They are provided by the hunting zone, not by Lionel Passion Guide.

Please contact us in advance to confirm availability and the applicable charges.

STEP 03

Responsible & Ethical Hunting

All hunting activities must comply with the applicable Mauritian laws and regulations. The necessary local hunting permits and authorisations must be obtained before hunting begins.

STEP 04

Plan Your Trip in Advance

To ensure the smooth preparation of your hunting experience, please follow this essential checklist before travelling:

  • Contact Lionel Passion Guide early in your planning phase.
  • Submit all required documents at least two months prior to arrival.
