A government-issued hunting permit is mandatory. Several documents are needed and it takes about two months. We handle the paperwork with you: just book at least two months in advance.
Importing your own firearms and ammunition into Mauritius is not allowed. The hunting areas provide them on site, for a rental fee on top of the hunt price.
Rusa deer were introduced to Mauritius in 1639. Thanks to hunting and careful management, the island is now home to around 70,000 deer. By law, all hunting areas are fenced: as an invasive species, the deer must be contained to protect endemic plants and prevent road collisions.
